If you could pause life for a moment and travel back in your lifeline, wont you have a few moments which you would love to live again?
Some memories are still fresh in your mind, but some breathe only in your photographs.

Aanathazhchira, is a place covered by lush trees like massive green oceans. Streams peaking their way out into sunshine from cold rocks. Soil is a variety of white-clay, red-loam, and pitch black-clay, all splattered on the ground like a brown-shaded rainbow.

Aanathazhchira,  home to numerous birds, small mammals and local human beings is now going to be reduced to a shallow ground, stripped from biodiversity, pulverized to broken sand and empty waste lands.

The reason? In the name of development, the Kerala government has now given permission to Technopark to take over that land for training young engineers.

500+ acres of land, filled to the brim with sensitive ecology is now getting dumped in the name of “development”. This branch of Technopark can shut down after many years and all that will remain will be an unused building and a wasted land.

But, you might think of these:

  • Its for the development of the nation, its just 500 acres and its legal.
  • whats so important about this place? no one has even heard of this land. how can this even have an impact on the environment?

Well folks, to answer the first doubt; NO. It brings zero development to our nation. The resources gained from this is imported to other countries.

Now, how is Aanathazhchira so important? Aanathazhchira is a tropical evergreen place and probably an extension of the beautiful Western Ghats. Aanathazhchira brings to Trivandrum most of the precipitation. Aanathazhchira is the reason why Trivandrum is not facing much water shortage.

Now, if Aanathazhchira is destroyed, tell me, won’t the water scarcity increase? And since the richness of the Western Ghats is directly linked to the climatic control of the world, won’t the destruction of Aanathazhchira effect the world climate?

This land would soon end up as living memories in photographs. I will wish to go back in time after a couple of years to this once green land to feel the cool breeze kiss my face, to see the blue lake touch the blue sky’s horizon until all that’s left is a blue blur.
